Philippines in Talks to Host WTA 125 Tournament in 2026

With the rise of the Philippines' Alex Eala, the country is now in talks of hosting a WTA tour leg in 2026.

The Philippine Sports Commission(PSC) and the Philippine Tennis Association(PHILTA) are planning to bring a Women's Tennis Association(WTA) caliber tournament to the Philippines. This initiative is a perfect avenue for the increased interest of tennis in the country, especially with the rise of 20-year-old tennis star Alex Eala, taking the action straight to the fans.
The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex tennis courts are being considered for the venues of the matches and are being suited to international standards. January 26 to February 1, 2026, is the targeted date for the tournament, giving the respective organizers ample time to prepare.
These kinds of efforts are perfect for the promotion and growth of a sport in the country.
