After suffering losses in the Suzhou WTA 125, Wuhan Open and Japan Women's Open, Alex Eala looks to get back to winning ways in the WTA 250 Guangzhou Open.

Alexandra Eala is set to compete in the Guangzhou Open, happening from October 20 - 26, 2025, in Guangzhou, China. Eala looks to come back from three straight losses, an early exit from the Japan Women's Open to the Czech Republic's Tereza Valentova, a qualifier loss in the Wuhan Open to Japan's Moyuka Uchijima, and a quarterfinal exit in the Suzhou WTA 125 to the Swiss Viktoria Golubic have now tainted Alex's impressive record as of late.
The last time Alex Eala lost in three straight games was a few months ago, when she fell in the Lexus Eastbourne Open, Wimbledon, and the Omnium Banque Nationale présenté par Rogers. After these losses, Eala found herself winning in the first round of the US Open against Clara Tauson, becoming the first Filipino ever to do so. If history is to be followed, a setback like this is sure to be followed by a major comeback.
The 20-year-old Filipina is slowly becoming the face of tennis in the country. Her accolades and achievements have made her a household name, but such fame does not come without pressure. Being a poster child for a sport can weigh you down tremendously, and at such a young age, Eala is still developing her game and hopes to be the best on her own terms.
Ranked 54, Eala looks to put on a show at Guangzhou and possibly even break her record best.
The Guangzhou Open can be Eala's return to form, but it comes with big challenges. Higher-ranked opposition, such as Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Ann Li, and Tatjana Maria, are some of the heavy-hitters that Eala may come up against.
